Lyell Castonguay teaches woodcut at print studios throughout New England. He is also the director of BIG INK, a collaborative project that encourages other artists to practice large woodcut. BIG INK revolves around a variety of programming including workshops and community printing events. Castonguay is the recipient of three Massachusetts Cultural Council grants. His work was selected out of 157 entries for a solo show at Bromfield Gallery in Boston, MA. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including: France, Ireland, Wales, Romania, and Italy.
Since 2008, Carand Burnet has assisted her partner Lyell with printing large woodcuts. She manages BIG INK’s web content and promotional material. She is a poet and creative nonfiction writer who is currently finishing a literary biography about Martha’s Vineyard poet Nancy Luce (1814-1890). In the past, she has contributed to publications including Art New England Magazine, Art In Print, Printmaking Today, and Printeresting.org.
