Organizations and artist's groups can book a BIG INK visit. Our events make a big impression!

THOSE INTERESTED IN BOOKING AN EVENT SHOULD:

No prior printmaking experience is necessary. Participants will learn the woodblock printmaking process through a combination of online and in-person instruction. Eight months of lead time is recommended on new bookings. Please confirm that the meeting space is handicap accessible, has 26 inches of minimum doorway clearance, 26 by 65 inches of minimum elevator clearance, 400 square feet of indoor working space, a loading zone, and one reserved parking space.

The following items are required with your submission.

1. Full Name and Collaborator's Full Name - Tell us your full name and how you wished to be addressed in public. Include the pseudo or business name you work under, e.g. John Smith aka "SmithWorks". List any additional project collaborators following the same format.

2. Title and Organization - Tell us your title and affiliate organization.

3. Email and Telephone - Tell us how to reach you. IMPORTANT! Add contact (at) bigink (dot) org and lyellcastonguay (at) gmail (dot) com to your email client's approved sender list.

4. Mailing Address - Tell us where to send contracts and promotional materials.

5. Referral - How did you hear about us? Please be specific as possible.

6. Desired Dates - When would you like us to visit? Please note we don't book events December 1st - March 15th.

All information provided to BIG INK will be held in strict confidence. We use the information from your application solely to evaluate your request.
Our rate is $4,800 for a two-day event within 500 miles of our New Hampshire studio. Our travel rate is 50¢ per mile past 500. We recommend reaching out to neighboring organizations and coordinating several events if you live a great distance away. We wave mileage fees if two events happen in the same region.
No, we require lodgings for events more than an hour's drive from our studio. We can discuss options at time of booking
An integrated design involving multiple artists is considered one participation spot.
Participation highlights include access to our online master class for one year, hands-on instruction during the event, and three prints from each participant's woodblock.
The woodblocks can be no larger than 40 by 96 inches in dimension. We highly recommend artists work either 24 by 36 or 24 by 48 inches if they are new to woodblock carving.
Masa paper and Speedball Art Products oil-based block printing ink are provided on printing day.
Participants purchase their own 1/2 or 3/8 inch carving substrate. BIG INK recommends Cherry Plywood, Shina Plywood, or Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF).
Participants also purchase their own carving tools. We recommend the Power Grip brand. Our master class goes into greater detail and includes product purchase links for plywood and tools.
400 square feet, the equivalent of a 20 by 20 foot room, is required. Our setup can adapt depending on how your space is laid out.
We supply all necessary items including non-toxic cleaning supplies, work tables, inking surfaces, inking rollers, a paper hanging system, and printing press equipment. Participants are only required to bring a carved woodblock.
Events normally run for seven hours, between 10 am and 5 pm, for two consecutive days. Hours can be adjusted to align with other events including parent visiting days, arts festivals, or school open houses.
We arrive one day before the event to set-up and breakdown during the evening of the second day. Allow for at least two hours to complete both tasks.
We travel in a standard height Ford E-150 cargo van. A loading zone and reserverd parking space are required.
We will follow up within 2 business days and schedule a phone conversation to discuss details.
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve dates. The remaining balance is due the day services are rendered.
We prefer checks made out to BIG INK LLC. A 3% additional processing fee applies to all credit card transactions.
Yes, we will present you with a formal agreement to sign after our phone consultation.
Normally yes but because of COVID we're allowing participants to drop their woodblock off on their assigned print day.
