  • Great collaborative opportunity for novice to experienced artists. Lyell’s thoughtful demeanor helps alleviate any concerns about the process, particularly for those who have not worked at this scale in the past. Any unexpected challenges were met with patient reassurances, helping to guide the workshop to a successful conclusion. I’ve done a number of these day-long workshops and look forward to doing more for as long as I can carve on this scale.

  • As an absolute beginner to carving wood, I found Big Ink’s online course to be informative, clear, and helpful. It provided me with all of the information I needed to carve and print a large-scale wood block, and I’m so pleased with the result. Having the opportunity to collaboratively print my block with the instructor and a group of fellow artists was such a great experience, and I feel like I’ve truly improved in my skill set as a block printer.
