Birds love a quick dip in water. The process helps cleans their feathers. This image is inspired by one of Castonguay’s pet doves who, after a water spritz, enjoys basking in the sun to dry off. The voluminous shape of the bird’s body, decked with ruffly feathers, reminded the artist of the clouds outside his studio window. The subject’s weightlessness, complimented by a tranquil expression and relaxed feet, is accentuated by the formless background on which it is placed.
