Goliath was first printed in black and white at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Castonguay then reworked the block and added a color field in the background. The contour of the blocks were shaped with a jigsaw and fit together when printed. This technique was used most famously by Norwegian painter/printmaker Edvard Munch.
