Castonguay has had several doves as pets, the oldest living to be 24 years old. One day, after one of the doves had finished taking a bath, the artist photographed the bird in an usual pose. Castonguay was struck by the intensity of the bird’s gaze and the position of the wings and feet, so he created this homage.
