My woodblock print, Night Swimmers, is inspired by the elegant shape of Trumpet Swans.
I sketched swans hovering over wave patterns while filming a new series of woodblock printmaking instructional videos. Swans and flamingos have also influenced my other artwork, such as my prints Dual Nature and Exodus. This artwork was created using the ancient art of woodblock printing, which originated in Asia. Ink is applied to one or more carved wooden blocks and hand-pressed onto paper. Multiple carved blocks layer colors, resulting in a dramatic effect.
