Title: Block Prep Before Printing

Time: 1:39

Summary: Learn why cleaning and sanding your woodblock is essential before applying ink.

[INTRO: MUSIC PLAYING]

Your woodblock must be squeaky clean and smooth to the touch.

Use fine-grit sandpaper to remove drips, brush marks,

and other textures.

Then, remove any dust with a plastic scrub brush.

Start scrubbing on one end and work your way to the other.

Keep brushing hard until the block is no longer shedding debris.

Tip the wood on its side so the particles fall away, and vacuum the

surface as a final step. That’s all.

You’re ready to start inking. Thanks for watching, and happy proofing.
