Title: Introduction

Summary: Consider how to store your work.

[INTRO: MUSIC PLAYING]

You can prevent damage to your prints with proper storage.
Small scale works keep nicely in a folio case.
You can make an inexpensive version with two sheets of foam core,
packing tape, and binder clips.
Place the long edge of the two sheets of foam core against one another.
Run packing tape along the seam. Like a book,
close the two sheets against one another and run more packing tape
on the outside edge.
Sandwich your artwork between the foam and line the outer edges of
the sheets with binder clips.
Another variation on the theme is to router a pocket inside the
foam core. Purchase a half-inch thick sheet
for this purpose. It’s a little more elaborate,
but your artwork stays neatly tucked inside the pocket.
I recommend oversized printing on thin paper.
It makes storing and mailing easy.
Just roll the art up and place it inside a tube.
Keep your work dry and out of the sun to prevent mold
and yellowing.
A damp basement is the last place you want your work to be.
Check your inventory every few months and contact a local
conservator if something appears to be damaged.
These are a few things to keep in mind.
I hope you find this video helpful.
Thank you for watching, and happy printing.

Acid-Free Foamcore, 3/16″
Most foam cores you buy off the shelf are not acid-free. Request acid-free foam core from a framing professional.

Packing Tape

Binder Clips

Router (see Palm Router Demo lesson)
You need a 1/2″ thick foam core to router a pocket. The process is messy, so wear proper protection for your eyes, ears, and face.
