Here’s a summary of items to bring to the workshop:
- A fully carved woodblock
- A tube to carry your prints
- Disposable gloves, an apron, and comfortable closed-toe footwear
- Hydration and snacks
- Your sense of adventure and enthusiasm! ๐
DATES
You must attend one in-person printing day on November 2 or 3, 2024, which we assign before the workshop. Please note that the list does not constitute a printing order. We print round-robin. One impression from everyone’s woodblock is printed, then we rotate through a second time and finally a third. This way, something different is continually being produced.

PRINTS
We produce multiple impressions from your woodblock for you to keep. We often have extra time to print more. Please inquire if you’d like additional prints.
WOOD
You are responsible for carving MDF, Cherry, or Shina ply 3/8 or 1/2-inch thick. Our Master Class includes instructions on where to source these materials. We cannot print linoleum or a 3/4โ thick plate.
CONSUMABLE MATERIALS
We print using black oil-based ink provided by Speedball Art Products onto white Japanese Masa paper supplied by Legion Paper.
ATTIRE
Please bring work gloves, apron, comfortable closed-toe footwear, and tie back long hair. Expect to be on your feet most of the day.
FOOD
We do not provide food, but there will be a 30-minute lunch break. Please bring hydration and snacks.
PACKING
We lay each of your woodblock prints on top of each other, roll them up, and place the package inside your tube. BIG INK provides a layer of newsprint to place between each print.
TUBE
Bring one 48-inch long, Scotch brand white mailing tube, available locally at FedEx Office Print & Ship Centers. Please call your local store to confirm availability.
CURING
Clear an open area at home to lay out prints after the workshop. The ink dries to the touch in 24 hours and is fully cured in 48 hours.
SELLING
Set a price for your woodblock print before coming to the workshop. 50ยข per square inch is a good starting point. We direct sales inquiries to you.
